Ingredients
- Salmon Flilet (One per Serving)
- Flour
- ½ Japanese Green Onion (Negi)
- One knob of butter (optional)
Teriyaki Sauce:
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 2 tbsp cooking sake
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 4 tbsp honey
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 2 tbsp of water + 1 tbsp corn (or potato) starch mixed
How to Make:
- Start by making your teriyaki sauce - add 2 tbsp of soy sauce mirin and cooking sake to a sauce pan and burn away the alcohol, either by simmering for a few minutes or carefully flambe-ing
- Then add 2 tbsp of soy sauce, 4 tbsp of honey, 2 cloves of minced garlic (or less dependent on your tastes) and bring to a simmer
- Let that simmer for a minute and mix 2 tbsp of water + 1 tbsp of corn (or potato starch) into a bowl and slowly drizzle that into your sauce
- Leave on a simmer until you see it begin to become thick - set that aside and let cool
- Prepare your Salmon filet by seasoning on both sides and then lightly sprinkling with flour - wipe away any excess flour
- Cut up ½ a Japanese green onion into about 2 cm long pieces (or any other vegetables like carrots/broccoli/onions)
- In a frying pan add olive oil and heat to a medium-high heat, add a knob of butter and let that melt
- Add your salmon skin side down with the green onions and cook until the skin turns a nice golden brown, flip over and let cook for another minute
- Finally add a lid on, turn to a low heat and let simmer for 3 more minutes
- Cover your salmon on onions with your honey garlic teriyaki sauce and enjoy!
